And a quick rec for a new TV show if anyone's interested - the show Kung Fu just started on the CW (a reboot of the 70s one) starring Olivia Liang with a primarily Asian-American cast and an Asian-American creator (Christina Kim). The first episode aired this past Wednesday and drew a good sized audience, but I haven't seen a lot of mention of it in fandom-y spaces so I thought I'd bring it up! I watched the pilot last night and thought it was fun.

Today, I edited a cover letter and submitted it with a short story to my reach mag. I doubt it will be accepted, but I decided it was time to try.

I did watch Kung Fu. I liked the actors and the magic sword but thought that plot with the tong taking over China town was a bit old. Hopefully it'll grow from there

Yeah, I thought that plot was a little thin and didn't quite make sense, but looking forward to seeing where the show goes. I also felt like there were several moments in the pilot that just felt like the network overdoing it with notes + making the writers spell things out too much (the monologue/voiceover in the last scene especially). Hopefully once it gets a few episodes in maybe the show will be allowed to breathe a little bit more.

April 10th - 1079 words on a challenge fic. Needs a few moire tweaks to the first few paragraphs, but oiverall I'm happy with it, except it's really hard to write someone speaking with a bad cold.

But you pushed through even though it was hard! Go you!

It's a case of trying to get the spellings so they're still understandable, but they sound like the character's stuffed up. I've done it before with a character who broke his nose, but it always looks like I can't spell or I haven't edited, lol!

I managed some zero drafting for my original WIP on the 10th. It's stumping me, I've got a good start and a rough outline but the ideas are not as fleshed out as they need to be, which I think is why I keep stalling, so: back to the drawing board (sort of) to try and shake something loose.

766 words of nonfic for me on the 10th, plus an alibi sentence of fic. By now I'm mostly over my post-holiday-exhaustion, so hopefully working at my WIPs is going to happen in the manner I want again soon.
