I've adapted most of the points below fromzwei_hexen who have hosted in previous months.
What is the Write Every Day Challenge?
Write Every Day is just what its name says: we challenge each other to write every single day. Our goal is to encourage one another and provide the accountability and/or motivation that some of us find very useful in keeping the words flowing.
Who can participate?
Everyone is welcome! We're an open-minded, nonjudgmental group of people who enjoy writing.
What do I have to do?
I'll post each day with a little bit about my own writing and a running tally of participants. All you need to do is drop by the comments and let us know how you're doing, but please know that you are never obligated to check in. Also, if you'd like to reply to someone else's comment but aren't checking in for yourself, that's perfectly fine too. Conversation is encouraged!
Is there a word limit or quota?
Nope. Write as little as an "alibi" sentence (just what it sounds like: a sentence to say you've written, giving you an "alibi" for the day) or as much as you'd like. All word counts are welcome! You also don't have to tell us how much you've written if you don't want to, but we won't judge you either way.
Is there any restriction on the kind of writing I can do?
Absolutely not! Fanfiction, original fiction, screenplays, blog posts, meta, academic writing, morning pages, editing, letter writing, nonsense poems: if you can write it, it counts!
Do I have to participate all the time?
No way! You can come and go at your pleasure.

- I'm in Mountain Time (MT) and will post daily check-ins
around 6PM (check what time that is in your time zoneHERE). [EDIT as of April 10: I'll be posting around 9AM MT from here on out - the time zone converter link for that is HERE.] Please try to check in on the most recent post so I can keep everything together, and if you're checking in for a different day, or several days at once, just let me know. - I will also post two rec posts during the month - one to rec your own work (fannish or not!), and the other to rec your favorite fannish places online, so keep an eye out for those.
- All of the Write Every Day posts will be tagged "write every day" so you can track the tag, but I generally don't use Dreamwidth for anything else so feel free to subscribe to my journal if you'd prefer.

Date: 2021-03-31 08:31 pm (UTC)I've been failing at regular check-ins lately, and have written nothing but alibi sentences all month. But I'm going to try again in April, and I hope I can finally get back in the saddle properly.

Date: 2021-03-31 10:07 pm (UTC)I've been AWOL for the last few weeks because my partner broke both his arms, but I'm looking forward to getting back into it, and soon I'll have an exchange assignment to work on -- as well as my WIPs, which are all standing around eyeing me reproachfully (especially the ones that I have beta back on!).

Today's the 1st, and I just wrote 512 words, which is the first time I've written anything ficlike in literally weeks. *does a little celebratory dance*

Date: 2021-04-01 06:00 pm (UTC)But, I also have to start finding venues and sending out original fic again, a task I've been saying I'm going to do for at least five months now. Once I get the momentum going, I'll be fine, but starting? *sighs* Starting is hard. I've done this before. I know what I have to do. Hopefully, I'll do it this coming week or so, since I'm on spring break until the 12th. We'll see.
Anyway, again, thank you for hosting us. I'm looking forward to this month! :-)

Date: 2021-04-01 09:51 pm (UTC)Congrats on completing your bingo square! I've been assuming when you said H50 you meant the one that ended last year, right? (Maybe a silly question, but a bunch of people I follow on tumblr have gotten really into MASH so you never know!)
And, good luck with starting to submit original stories! I just got through with a round of job applications, which isn't exactly the same thing, but feels a little similar. Are you looking to publish short stories mostly or longer works? I thought I remembered that you mentioned working on a novel, but maybe that was someone else?

Date: 2021-04-02 12:59 pm (UTC)TBH I've no idea what mountain time is (insofar as to what areas/cities does it apply as the time conversion lists uses the terms I'm also familiar with, like UTC and GMT, but it doesn't matter; I don't have a regular schedule to comment on the WED entries and check for the newest all the time anyway. ^^ I've had difficulties with regular check-ins outside our own hosting months and hope to be better this time; however I might be late for the next few days as the Easter holidays are a very busy time for me, partly because we celebrate it and partly as I'm the only person currently able to work with the church homepage's CMS, and we're having digital/video services do bring online in time for the events. But I'll try to be regular from Tuesday on!
